Our History

The Seattle Baseball Academy (SBA) began in 2009 as City Baseball, a youth baseball club founded by Wes Long and Harlan Boyd. City Baseball fields competitive teams each year from ages 8 to 18, as well as year-round baseball training and professional coaching. The Seattle Softball Academy (SSA) was founded in 2022.

Since it began, over 2000 youth ball players have worn one of our jerseys and taken training from the Club’s professional staff. Over 200 have gone on to compete at a higher level. SBA, as the parent of City Baseball and SSA, is singularly focused on baseball instruction, training, and guiding players on and off the field.

The Academy offers individual, group, and team training, as well as training programs designed to be applied across entire leagues and other baseball organizations. SBA also offers instruction to baseball and softball coaches.

The organization maintains strong relationships within the baseball community, including guest instructors from the college and professional ranks, in support of its mission to be the premier baseball and softball development program in the Pacific Northwest.
